Osprey's Public Debut
Sensing Products debuted the Osprey small object radar at Security 2017, which this year returned to Sydney after a 3-year absence, and what a great show it was. Held over 3 days in the newly opened ICC at Darling Harbour, the exhibition hosted over 200 suppliers from the security industry. Nearly 5000 people from all over the APAC region travelled to Sydney to visit the show and of course many of those people stopped at our stand to see the latest unique innovation in perimeter protection.
As you will be aware Sensing is focused on the development of affordable, commercially available multi-function radar sensors, designed to detect objects previously undetectable by commercial radar solutions. The Osprey range of radar sensors are designed and manufactured by Sensing in Australia as part of a joint initiative with Corrective Services Industries.
Our stand showcased a small but exciting range of products that included;
The Osprey 9030, a short range, small object detection radar, that was primarily developed to detect contraband being thrown in to prisons and correctional services complexes.
The Osprey Air, which offers the same detection and discrimination as the Osprey 9030 but with extended detection range and enhanced UAV/Drone algorithms.
The Scan-360, a low cost, ground surveillance radar for perimeter security, with an operational range to detect humans and vehicles up to 200 metres, and to automatically operate a CCTV Pan Tilt Zoom (PTZ) camera to point at the intruder range.
Nexus, the command and control GUI, which provides and intuitive, map based user interface for networked Osprey radar sensors.
We also had the privilege of presenting a 15-minute introduction, with a Q&A session, to the Osprey 9030, to a small but captivated audience on the Thursday.
Throughout the show we received great interest in the detecting capabilities of the Ospreys, people were fascinated by the radars ability to detect objects as small as golf ball being thrown over prison perimeter fences. Everyone also seemed particularly impressed by the partnership we have with CSI (Correctional Services Industries) NSW which means that part of the manufacturing process of the Osprey units will be done by the prisoners themselves.
After such a successful show, we have already booked for next year’s ASIAL Security Conference and Exhibition in Melbourne. We look forward to seeing you all again next year from the 25th to 27th July at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
